Zero to IRO IRO - by you
Time & Location
About the Event
IRO IRO have found in their practice that zero-waste patterns essentially are jigsaw puzzles. Evoking the playfulness and childhood nostalgia they have designed do-it-yourself zero-waste puzzles that allow the participants to create their own IRO IRO jacket or bag depending on the kit they choose to purchase. Participants can purchase a kit containing pre-marked and semi-cut IRO IRO upcycled handwoven fabric and all the other tools needed to assemble a finished product. The participants will be guided on the assembly through a manual provided within the kit and also a Zoom based workshop instructed by IRO IROs artisan partners.

There are four kits each with a different jigsaw puzzle zero-waste pattern called Dohar (meaning a blanket), Chotti Dohar (meaning a Small Blanket), Paheli (meaning a puzzle) and Gaath (meaning a knot). Kits are priced at between £72 - £88 plus shipping. A kit is not required to participate in this event, we welcome all guests and the techniques can be practiced using your own fabric and upcycled items.
This event is part of a Fashion Open Studio programme in partnership with the British Council's The Climate Connection global programme and campaign. Nine designers from across the world have been selected in response to the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 themes of Adaptation and Resilience and Nature.
